Top Eats: Vendy Plaza
Vendy Plaza is up next in our food tour. Located in East Harlem, this festival graces La Marqueta (Park Avenue and 116th street) every Sunday from 12:00PM-6:00PM. While perusing the selections of goodies, we had an opportunity to speak to Casandra Rosario about Vendy Plaza, as well as their awards ceremony taking place in September: The Vendy Awards.
Locals can vote for their favorite food trucks and street vendors for the awards to crown the best of New York, Philadelphia, LA, and Chicago street food. (If you have a vendor in mind, nominate them here.)
As always, we’ve curated our favorite top eats, here’s VENDY PLAZA:
Sweet Potato Churros – Annie Mae’s Bakery
We’ve all given in to the new craze of churros, but these churros are fried sweet potato! A perfect (healthier) treat.
Pineapple Rice Bowls – Exclusive Taste
I’m a huge fan of pineapple in my rice. But pineapple surrounding my rice? Next level status. These bowls are filled with rice and a meat of your choice.
Plantain Bowls – Cine Cooks
This bowl has been carefully carved out of plantains. A perfectly crisp bowl to be filled with meats and veggies. Yum!
Santana Burger – Hngry Artst
This is the SANTANA: a Chimichurri burger topped with queso fresco, mayo ketchup smothered with love by ciabatta bread.
Arepa Cone – Cheese Corn Arepas
Put a cute baby behind brussel sprouts and I’ll eat ’em. But these Arepas Cones filled with delectable chicken or roast pork with guacamole and cheese are a killer. Watch out, I’m drooling.
