Where to Sip Your Holiday Cheer in NYC?
It’s that time of year again. May the kids stampede their way down the street on their way home from school. May we all slip and fall on the busy NYC sidewalks. May I (not) drink myself into a holiday lull. Cue the music, folks- it’s the most wonderful time of the year!
What was that? Holidays? Drinking? Holiday drinks? Well, of course. The only way to bear the holidays as an adult is to sip away the feelings and pump yourself full of some holiday cheer.
That being said, here’s our list of the best places to drink your Holiday Cheer.
Shake Shack– Holiday Milkshakes
Like Shake Shake had to do anything to make me want their custard in the dead of winter. These festive shakes come in Pumpkin Pie, Christmas Cookie, and Chocolate Peppermint. Christmas cookie is my personal fav!
Would I drink again: Hell yes.
Schnippers- Pumpkin Pie and Candy Cane Milkshakes
I didn’t know Schnippers was a thing until roughly six months ago. Not that I would consider them fast food, but they’re my on-the-go choice. Their holiday milkshakes definitely did not disappoint! The Pumpkin Caramel was my favorite. Subtle pumpkin spice flavor with tons of ooey-gooey caramel!
Would I drink again: Maybe.
Terri- Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
I kept passing Terri on my way to work and seeing a “Pumpkin Pie Smoothie” sign in the window. And I thought: “a smoothie?” Versus a milkshake, I’m not sure how this would go down. One Sunday morning I made the brave choice to venture in, and Terri did not disappoint! The smoothie had a heavy pumpkin taste, and it tasted so refreshing I felt I had made a healthy choice… Surprise! I found out Terri is a vegan restaurant. Now I want to try everything on their menu!
Would I drink again: Not before trying the rest of the menu!
Starbucks- Fruitcake Frappucino
This was an impulse buy. I didn’t expect to put Starbucks on the list, because, well, they always have a holiday menu (duh, red cups!) I picked up this festive frap because 1) It was for a limited time only, and 2) It came with festive sweater. Now, you may be thinking “Where is your festive sweater?”…That’s what I’m thinking, too! I was pretty disappointed mine didn’t come decked out. The frap itself was a sweet tooth dream: a vanilla base with some fruit chunks.
Would I drink again: No. (Sorry!)
If you’ve made it this far down the list you deserve an actual drink. Here’s my top two, must-see, holiday bars:
LOCL at Nylo Hotel- Snow Globe Cocktails
This whimsical bar on the Upper West Side has transformed into a holiday wonderland. Their Christmas Drinks have gone to all new heights, including: the Shakespeare Globe, which contains Christmas Tree Flavored liqueur. Their snow globes contain edible glitter, so you can really get your White Christmas all shook up!
Would I drink again: All year long.
230 Fifth Rooftop Bar-Igloo Chillin’
Picture it: You hustle your way through NYC streets. It’s cold, you’re cold, your hands, feet, legs, face…are cold. You travel up to a rooftop, slip out of your coat and into a fuzzy robe. You grab your drink and climb into an igloo (temperature controlled, to boot!) I literally want to sleep in these things.
Would I drink again: Yes!
